How to Upgrade Windows Vista Home to
Windows Vista Ultimate   
(using Windows Easy Transfer and
 windows.old)

   You can Upgrade from Windows Vista Home to Windows Vista Ultimate in four Steps

Step 1 - Backup your settings using Windows Easy Transfer ( your data will remain on the partition )
Step 2 - Prepare for an install of Windows Vista Ultimate ( moving your present windows files in Windows.old
             folder ).
             - a) Windows Vista Ultimate disk and your product key
             - b) Computer drivers (if you don`t have them go to the manufacturer site and download them)
             - c) Learn how to boot from cd/dvd-rom
Step 3 - Install Windows Vista Ultimate
Step 4 - After windows have all drivers is updated and secure use Windows Easy Transfer to access your
             settings ( your data will be on the system partition and in windows.old ).
    
   Step 1

    Start Windows Easy Transfer from Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools
Choose External hard disk or to a network location
Click on Browse and select a folder where you want to backup your data and press Save.
To continue, press Next.
Choose Advanced options
From this panel backup all your files and settings, when you are done press Next
To close this wizard, press Close

   Assuming that you covered Step 2 you can begin Windows Vista Ultimate installation by inserting
Windows Vista Ultimate installation disk in your cd/dvd-rom device and restart your computer.
Enter Your Product Key then press Next to continue.
Note: You can leave it blank press Next and register your product later.
Press No to continue.  
Make sure that you select the edition of Windows that you purchased (in this case Windows Vista
Ultimate).
Note: If you select the wrong edition, you will need to purchase that edition, or you will need to reinstall the
correct edition of Windows later.  
Check I accept the license terms and press Next.  
Click on Custom (advanced ) section to continue.  
To begin installation press Install now.  
Select your settings and press Next.  
Press Next to begin install.  
Windows Installation will inform you that your previous windows files will be moved in Windows.old folder.
Press OK to continue.  
Setup will continue after restart.  
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to
press any key to begin the installation.
Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
Enter Your Name then press Next to continue (you can provide a password later for your account).  
Provide a name for your computer and press Next.  
Select Use recommended settings.  
Review your time and data settings then press Next.  
Press Finish to complete installation.

    Start Windows Easy Transfer from Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools
On User Account Control pop-up press Continue
Windows Easy Transfer enables you to transfer files and settings from one computer another. No information
is deleted from your old computer.
To continue press Next
Choose Continue a transfer in progress
Choose No, I`ve copied files and settings to a CD, DVD, or other removable media
Choose On an external hard disk or network location
Click on Browse and select the folder where you have backup your data and press Open.
To continue press Next
Make your settings then press Next
Review selected files and settings then press Next
The transfer is complete press Close
You need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect press Yes in order to restart

Choose Use a CD, DVD, or other removable media
Choose My old computer
Choose Start a new transfer
On User Account Control pop-up press Continue
Windows Easy Transfer enables you to transfer files and settings from one computer another. No information
is deleted from your old computer.
To continue press Next
