Why reinstall Windows Vista Ultimate moving your windows files in windows.old?
A custom install of Window vista, creates a folder called Windows.old of your previous system. The advantage of this custom installation is that you can keep all your user account file and installed programs. All this files are moved in windows.old folder and you can easy access them after you finish this installation. The purpose of the article is to show how a custom install of Windows Vista Ultimate goes and how windows.old is created when you start installation from your Operating System. Lets start the installation:
Enter Your Product Key then press Next to continue. Note: You can leave it blank press Next and register your product later.
Press No to continue.
Make sure that you select the edition of Windows that is installed on your computer (in this case Windows Vista Ultimate).
Check I accept the license terms and press Next.

You can start repair from the operating system. Press Install now to begin
Click on Custom (advanced) section to continue.
Click on Next to continue. Note: To make changes to partitions, restart Windows from the installation disc.
Windows Installation will inform you that your previous windows files will be moved in Windows.old folder. Press OK to continue.
Setup will continue after restart.
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to press any key to begin the installation. Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
Enter Your Name then press Next to continue (you can provide a password later for your account).
Provide a name for your computer and press Next.
Select Use recommended settings.
Review your time and data settings then press Next.
