How to install Windows Xp Home  
(clean install)

After you selected your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device, you can begin your installation by
pressing any hey on your keyboard.   
If your computer needs SCSI or RAID drivers you need to press F6 key in order to install them.  
Before you press S key and install your drivers, insert the diskette with the drivers provided by you
manufacturer in the floppy disk. If you don`t have a floppy disk device, you can use a software like nLite to
integrate drivers in your installation cd.    
Once the drivers are installed, the setup will continue.  
To setup Windows Xp now, press ENTER.  
If you agree with the Windows Xp Licensing Agreement, press F8 key to continue.  
Because this is the first installation your hard will be unpartitioned space.
To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C.  
We recommend that the first partition be dedicated to your operation system and have 50 GB.
To create this partition press ENTER.  
Depending on hard disk size we recommend to divide your remaining unpartitioned space in partitions that
will soot your needs. For example you can make a special partitions for your installed programs, or games,
music, movies, etc.  
After you created all your partitions select system partition ( C ) and press ENTER to begin install .  
We recommend to format your partition NTFS.
Select Format the partition using the NTFS file system and press ENTER.  
Please wait while Setup formats the partition .  
You need to wait until setup files are copied.  
Setup will continue after restart.  
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to
press any key to begin the installation.
Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
First window dialog will ask you to choose your Regional and Language Options settings.
Choose the appropriate settings and click Next.  
Enter Your Name and Organization then press Next to continue.  
Enter Your Product Key then press Next to continue.
Note: Only with  Windows Xp Home Service Pack 3 you can leave it blank press Next and register your
product later.
Press No to continue.  
Provide a name for your computer and press Next.  
Set the correct date and time for your computer then press Next.  
Select Typical settings then press Next.  
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to
press any key to begin the installation.
Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
Setup will make a second restart.  
Press OK to continue.  
If you can read the text press OK to continue.  
Press Next to continue.  
Select Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now then press Next.  
You can Skip the checking for Internet connectivity.  
Select No, remind me every few days then press Next.  
Provide a name for the first user account then press Next.  
Press Finish to complete installation.

Why a clean installation of Windows XP Home?

A clean install is an installation of an operating system on a hard drive which has been totally erased.
Clean installs are used to put an operating system on a brand new computer, and to replace or totally
upgrade it on an older computer. In this case we will consider that your computer is new, with no operating
system installed, or you have replaced your hard disk with a new one .

The purpose of the article is to show how a Windows Xp Home installation goes and how to partition the
hard drive for the first time.

We recommend dividing the hard disk for the following reasons:

- hard disk division result in a better response time from the operating system
- efficient organization of data
- if you need to reinstall your operating system you can backup only the system partition
