Why reinstall Windows XP Professional on a new directory?

Reinstall in a new directory on the same partition helps you keep your data during the system reinstall. The
user files are kept.

The purpose of the article is to show how a Windows Xp Professional reinstall goes and how to reinstall
windows on a new directory when you start installation from your Operating System.

Lets start the installation:
Windows install will continue after restart.  
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to
press any key to begin the installation.
Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
To make a Windows Xp install press ENTER.  
Windows setup will worn you that is not recommended to install two operating systems on the same
partition. Press C to continue.  
Select the same operating system partition ( C ) and press ENTER.  
To reinstall Windows Xp press ESC key.  
Select No, skip this step and continue installing Windows then press Next.  
Press Next to continue.  
Check I want to choose the install drive letter and partition during Setup box.

Note: If you don`t check this box you can unintentional start an new installation on the second partition  
Make your settings and go to Advanced Options...  
Press No to continue.  
Enter Your Product Key then press Next to continue.
Note: Only with  Windows Xp Professional Service Pack 3 you can leave it blank press Next and register
your product later.
Check I accept the license terms and press Next.  
On Installation Type select New Installation (Advanced) and press Next.  
You can start Repair Installation from the operating system.
Press Install Windows Xp to begin   
Read Windows setup CAUTION and press ESC to continue.  
Provide a name for the new windows folder (for example WINDOWS1 ) and press ENTER to continue.  
First window dialog will ask you to choose your Regional and Language Options settings.
Choose the appropriate settings and click Next.  
Enter Your Name and Organization then press Next to continue.  
Provide a name for your computer and press Next. (You can provide a password for the default Administrator
account now or later )
Set the correct date and time for your computer then press Next.  
Select Typical settings then press Next.  
For now just press Next you can make the correct settings later.  
Setup will make a second restart.

Press OK to continue.  
If you can read the text press OK to continue.  
Press Next to continue.  
Select Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now then press Next.  
You can Skip the checking for Internet connectivity.  
Select No, remind me every few days then press Next.  
Provide a name for the first user account then press Next.  
Press Finish to complete installation.

Setup will continue after restart.  
You need to wait until setup files are copied.
